AKA “Dev” grew up in Chula Vista and attended the San Diego Ballet school in the 1970’s under the direction of Dame Sonia Arova, then Keith Martin of the Royal Ballet. Her ballet mentors include Marrius Zirra, Elaine Thomas, Bobby Rodham, Glen White, Michael Cappara and Judith Sharp. She performed with the San Diego Ballet Company, California Ballet Company, San Francisco Opera Ballet and Theatre Ballet of San Francisco. Dev studied ballet in New York with David Howard and Melissa Hayden then returned to San Diego to perform as a modern dancer with Three’s Company & dancers under the direction of Jean Isaacs and Betzi Roe. Expanding her dance modalities to include Jazz, Dev has had a lifelong career in dance on Cruise ships, Magick Shows, Burlesque Reviews, as a costume character, at Sea World, and as a back-up dancer for a female impersonator show from Las Vegas. That led Dev into the world of celebrity impersonation and since 2000 she has worked as a Michael Jackson Impersonator. Dev performed as MJ for a City Ballet Gala several years ago. In the 1990’s Dev became a licensed Massage Therapist and uses her understanding of anatomy and years of dance experience in her teaching. Dev believes that no matter what age we are, dance is a vital part of staying young and healthy.
