A program exclusively of firsts. Geoffrey Gonzalez premieres his new ballet, An American in Paris. Elizabeth Wistrich premieres her new ballet, Boléro – The Awakening. And City Ballet adds their first Christopher Wheeldon ballet to their repertoire, Morphoses.
An American In Paris
World Premiere
Inspired by the story of American fashion designer Claire McCardell, a young lady, alone, arrives off a ship to find herself in blossoming Paris. Her dream is to design fashion for American women, inspired by the Chanel luxury fashion house in the early-1960s.

City Ballet of San Diego Premiere
With Morphoses, City Ballet will add their first Christopher Wheeldon ballet to their repertoire. Morphoses is a complex, athletic ballet for four dancers that is an ideal introduction to Wheeldon, with influences from George Balanchine, Frederick Ashton, Jerome Robbins, and Kenneth MacMillan.
