In 1936 Sergei Prokofiev was commissioned to create a musical symphony for children. He used different instruments to play a ‘theme’ that represents each character in the story. Follow the adventures of young Peter who lives with his grandfather in the forest and his encounters with a duck, a bird, a cat and a Wolf!

Ballet Goes to School

At-school performance by City Ballet dance artists

Can’t come to the theater? City Ballet’s “Ballet Goes to School” program offers ballet at your school with a fun and informative 50-minute assembly performed by City Ballet’s professional dancers. Special programs have been created that are geared for children, while capturing and maintaining their interest. Standards-based study guides are proved for teachers to enhance the learning experience.

30-week residency program

Students participating in bar instruction

This 30-week residency program provides young students an in-depth exposure to ballet. Program culminates with a school assembly for peers and family members.

Available during school hours or as an after-school program.

30-minute in-classroom introduction to ballet

Ballet dancers in various poses

Two City Ballet dance artists come to your classroom with a 30-minute program.

Students learn ballet steps and the French terminology, plus a close and personal look into the ballet world.
