Pointe Shoe Fund
Donations to help our pointe shoe budget grow is one of the easiest and most appreciated way to show support to the dancers and the hard work they put into creating the beautiful nights at the ballet that you enjoy attending. Because each shoe’s span can be anywhere from a week to as little of a day, no ballet company can have too many pointe shoes for their dancers!
All donations, regardless of amount, are appreciated!

Did You Know?
City Ballet of San Diego orders hundreds of pointe shoes for our company women each season, as pointe shoes are a necessity for all ballet dancers . They are part of the magic and beauty behind the ballerinas you see on stage. Pointe shoes are put through hard abuse throughout the rehearsal process and performances. They are hand made from delicate materials, and cost an average of $100 a pair. Because each shoe’s lifespan can be anywhere from a week to as little as a day, no ballet company can have too many pointe shoes for their dancers! Pointe shoes are considered dead (not wearable) when they become too soft to support the ballerina while she dances. Dancing on dead shoes can hinder the ballerina’s performance and result in injury.
