Geoff Gonzalez

Geoffrey Gonzalez, a Cuban-American from Tempe, AZ, received his training at the Tempe Dance Academy and the School of Ballet Arizona before entering the University of Arizona as a dance major. While at the University of Arizona, Gonzalez performed in numerous works, including those by George Balanchine, Paul Taylor, and Ben Stevenson. In 2007, Mr. Gonzalez was among the top 25 male finalists for So You Think You Can Dance television show. During his tenure with City Ballet, beginning in 2008,  Gonzalez performed lead roles in the company’s productions, including works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, and Peter Martins. During City Ballet’s off-seasons, Geoff could be seen performing with Rasta Thomas’ Bad Boys of Dance. Gonzalez’s choreography has been featured in City Ballet’s productions since 2013. In 2016, Mr. Gonzalez was selected as one of only ten choreographers (only 104 since its inception in 2000) to be part of the prestigious New York Choreographic Institute, supported by New York City Ballet. As of 2016, Geoff served as Resident Choreographer and a dancer for City Ballet. In 2018, Geoff was named the Best Contemporary Choreographer for the regional Youth America Grand Prix.
