City Ballet closes this exciting and unusual season with a program for ballet lovers.
An experience of pure dance. Marius Petipa’s full-length, three-act ballet was created in 1898 and performed at the Maryinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg Russia. It had a difficult story line to follow, therefore, Resident Choreographer Elizabeth Wistrich choreographed this shorter version. Having no literary content, it is the grand music with its joy and playfulness and the grandeur of the classical choreography that will electrify the audience.
Choreographed in 1986, this elaborately costumed tutu ballet was last performed by City Ballet of San Diego in 2016.
