Works by three American masters closes City Ballet’s dance series celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. George Balanchine’s landmark neoclassical ballet Concerto Barocco transforms the intricate beauty of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Double Violin Concerto into a dazzling display of musicality, precision, and pure classical dance. Peter Martins’ Ash is a dynamic contemporary ballet blending athletic movement, lyrical expression, and striking theatrical imagery into a powerful exploration of resilience and transformation. And Gerald Arpino’s Light Rain is a sensual and electrifying ballet that fuses classical technique with contemporary flair, set to an evocative score inspired by the rhythms and spirit of the Mediterranean.
