Behind the Mask

Saturday, December 12 at 5:45pm

Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in our live event! The auction and marketplace are now closed but you can still watch the event and support City Ballet with a donation towards our 20-20 in 2020 donation matching event.

Kim and Eric Roberts

Join us as we take you behind the scenes for the filming of City Ballet of San Diego’s “The Masquerade Nutcracker”. Former City Ballet ballerina Kimberly Roberts (Sugar Plum Fairy) and her husband, Eric, also a former City Ballet dancer, will take you backstage to show you how this magnificent new ballet was created amid the current COVID19 challenges.

You will see dancing and interviews with current City Ballet dancers as they relate their personal experiences and the ways they individually interpret their roles of dancing in “The Masquerade Nutcracker”. Some dancers started as young as 5 years old and were so inspired that they have stayed and danced in the various Nutcracker productions ever since. One interview will be with a City Ballet dancer who will be celebrating 50 consecutive years of performing in “The Nutcracker”!

Along with the exciting backstage interviews and dancing, you will have the opportunity to bid on exquisite items from our online auction and/or purchase items from our Holiday Marketplace. Proceeds from this event provide funding for City Ballet’s performances, education and outreach programs. What a great opportunity to do your holiday shopping and support City Ballet of San Diego at the same time!

Items will be available for bidding and purchase December 5-14, 2020
